And Now it’s Winter Time

“My lack of initiative was the root cause of all my troubles – of my inability to want something before having thought about it, of my inability to commit myself, of my inability to decide in the only way one can decide: by deciding, not by thinking. I’m like Buridan’s donkey, dying at the mathematical midpoint between the water of emotion and the hay of action; if I didn’t think, I might still die, but it wouldn’t be from thirst or hunger.”
― Fernando PessoaThe Education of the Stoic

Cut and paste. Let Fern commit to turning his thought into the printed word. The only time I decide with out thinking is when I reach for another nicotine gum. The only action I make with complete freedom of thought is going to and coming home from work. I had to wrestle with this add on, this dangling limb of sad continuation of the musings of a long dead and forgotten man.

“Horizon To Cliff”
Out on the rise
High above the things that really matter
There’s no surprise
Nothing’s what it seems out on the rise

You can fight through all the reason
And wait another season
Forget about what you wanted
Forget your heart is haunted

Out on the rise
Out beyond the gravity of meaning
There’s no surprise
So why would you drift
Horizon to cliff till you die

You can fight through all the reason
And wait another season
Forget about what you wanted

Well I guess I did my best to lock myself out
I even never hid a key

Now it’s summer time and now it’s winter time
Now it’s summer time again

Out on the rise    -Built to Spill
